The upcoming biographical drama “Michael,” based on the life of Michael Jackson, will give fans a chance to watch the film earlier than expected. Distributor Lionsgate has announced that the highly anticipated movie will hold special Early Access screenings on April 22, 2026, two days before its official theatrical release on April 24.

According to the studio, these screenings will be a one-night-only event with a limited number of showtimes. They will be presented exclusively in premium formats such as IMAX and Dolby, offering audiences enhanced picture and sound quality for a more immersive experience. Tickets for the early screenings will go on sale on March 11, beginning at 6 a.m. PT / 9 a.m. ET, while tickets for the film's general release will be available at a later date.

Directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by John Logan, the film stars Jaafar Jackson, the nephew of Michael Jackson and son of Jermaine Jackson, who makes his feature film debut portraying the King of Pop. The cast also includes Nia Long, Colman Domingo, Miles Teller, Laura Harrier, Juliano Krue Valdi, and KeiLyn Durrel Jones.

The project is produced by Graham King, John Branca, and John McClain. The film will be distributed by Lionsgate in the United States and by Universal Pictures internationally, while Kino Films will handle distribution in Japan.
The movie chronicles Jackson's extraordinary journey from his early discovery as the lead singer of The Jackson 5 to becoming one of the most influential and celebrated entertainers in music history. Along with exploring his life away from the stage, the film recreates several of the most iconic performances from his early solo career.
