Mythological film Mahakali has created a buzz with the release of its first glimpse on Monday. The upcoming film is set to hit theatres worldwide on Jan. 8, 2027. Mahakali is part of the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe and will be released in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.
The film is expected to stream on OTT giant Netflix following its theatrical run in 2027.
Mahakali Story
The recently released glimpse suggests that Akshaye Khanna's character, Shukracharya, is at the centre of the conflict. Titled Shukracharya's War Cry, the glimpse explores one of mythology's most classic conflicts - the battle between good and evil.
The striking visuals offer a glimpse into the film's grand scale, while the story appears to focus primarily on the eternal conflict between Dharma and Adharma.
In the teaser, Akshaye Khanna is seen sporting a long silver-white beard, matted hair tied into a topknot, intense eyes and a traditional tilak as he portrays Shukracharya, the guru of the Asuras. Meanwhile, Sriya Reddy makes a powerful appearance as Goddess Durga towards the end of the glimpse.

Cast And Characters
Directed by Puja Kolluru, Mahakali stars Akshaye Khanna and Bhoomi Shetty in the lead roles. The cast also includes Sriya Reddy, Rohit Saraf, Rakesh Bedi, Samuthirakani, Jitin Gulati, Rajat Kapoor, Murali Sharma, Nassar and Babloo Prithveeraj.
The film is being produced by Riwaz Ramesh Duggal under RKD Studios, with Smaran Sai composing the music.

When And Where To Watch Mahakali?
Mahakali is scheduled to release in theatres worldwide on January 8, 2027. The film is expected to arrive on Netflix after its theatrical run. However, the OTT release date has not yet been announced by the makers.
