The makers of Jana Nayagan, starring Vijay, have finally responded after a portion of the unreleased film was leaked online.
The leaks took place when the film is already facing delays and is expected to be Vijay's last project before his full-time entry into politics.
Earlier, reports confirmed that a 5-minute and 31-second clip from the film had surfaced online and was widely shared across platforms like X, YouTube, Instagram and Telegram.
The leaked footage reportedly included the title credits, Vijay's introduction scene and a fight sequence. While some posts were taken down, the clip continued to circulate, raising concerns about piracy and security.
Now, KVN Productions has issued a strong statement addressing the leaks.
The production house stated that it is the “exclusive copyright owner” of the film and confirmed that certain scenes — and in some cases, larger portions of the film — have been illegally accessed, copied and circulated by unidentified individuals.
Calling it a serious case of digital piracy, the makers warned that any activity involving the leaked content, including downloading, watching, storing or sharing, is a criminal offence. They clearly stated that such actions violate copyright laws and will lead to strict legal consequences.
The statement further added that all digital activity is traceable and that the team has already begun investigations.
“We have initiated necessary investigations including forensic investigations and complaints against persons involved and are actively identifying all others in the chain of circulation,” the makers said.
They also confirmed that strict civil and criminal action will be taken against anyone found involved.
The production house has urged the public not to engage with the leaked content in any way. They advised people to immediately delete such material if received and warned that failure to do so could result in legal action.

The leak has already sparked strong reactions from fans and industry members. Actor Sibi Sathyaraj had earlier expressed concern, urging people not to watch or share the leaked footage.

Directed by H. Vinoth, the film was initially planned for a January 9 release but got delayed due to pending certification.
With no confirmed release date yet, this latest leak has added another challenge for the makers of Jana Nayagan.
