The IMD defines its daily forecast period from 8:30 am IST of the day until 8:30 am the following day. The warning comes as October typically marks a transition period in Maharashtra, when temperatures can remain elevated despite the onset of the post-monsoon season.
High humidity can further increase discomfort and make temperatures feel warmer than the actual readings. Residents in areas likely to experience heatwave conditions have been advised to remain cautious, particularly during the afternoon, stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
The IMD forecast also indicates predominantly dry conditions across several districts of Maharashtra during the five-day period, although isolated rainfall and thunderstorms remain possible in some coastal areas.
