The Indian Army is set to place orders for the purchase of 300 Dhanush Howitzers which would be utilised to raise 15 regiments of the domestic artillery guns in the military according to ANI.
This will be the second prominent order with regards to the Dhanush artillery guns, which are made by public sector companies based on the transfer of technology of the Bofors guns which were obtained in the 1980s.
The Indian Army is going to soon place an order for 300 Dhanush Howitzers, and a high-level Defence Ministry meeting is set to clear it soon, defence officials told ANI.
The 155 mm 45-calibre guns have already been introduced into the armed forces since 114 guns were ordered a few years prior.

Close to four regiments of the Dhanush guns have already been acquainted with the army, and two additional guns are anticipated to be inducted soon, they officials stated. The design of Dhanush is based on the Bofors Howitzer which was inducted in the 1980s.
The howitzer gun has that ability to fire 155mm ammunition and can be fitted with a bi-modular charge system, which helps it increase its range. The artillery gun had concluded its tests at Pokhran in June 2018.
Up to 80% of the Dhanush Howitzer is made up of indigenous components. The gun has a maximum range spanning 8-10 km, more than the Bofors howitzer. It also has the capacity to fire all types of ammunition currently available with the Indian army.
