A Level-2 fire that broke out in Trident Hotel at Mumbai's Nariman Point in the late hours of Wednesday, 19 December was brought under control after fire tenders and police forces rushed to spot.

A fire officer told The Hindu, “The fire began in the air conditioning unit and wall panelling of the shop. It seems to have been caused by a short-circuit.

No injuries or casualties were reported.

Speaking to The Hindu, an eye-witness said that sparks were seen at 10.30 pm however, escalated within minutes. “As glasses and wooden boxes fell down, a team from the hotel responded first to the blaze,” the eye witness said.

The incident comes two days after a fire broke out in ESIC Kamgar hospital in Andheri, Mumbai in which eight people lost their lives. Meanwhile, another blaze broke out at the hospital on Wednesday, news agency PTI reported quoting a senior civic official.

Nobody was injured in the fire, which was reported at 7.54 pm, an official from Disaster Management Unit of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said.
