Heavy rains and thunderstorms disrupted normal life across Delhi-NCR on Monday, prompting major airlines including IndiGo, Air India, Akasa Air and SpiceJet to issue travel advisories and ask passengers to check their flight status before leaving for the airport.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued weather warnings for Delhi on Monday, forecasting heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds in parts of the region.
The weather department's subdivision-wise warning also flagged heavy rainfall for Delhi for the day.
IndiGo said, "Bad weather over Delhi has impacted flight schedules. We are closely monitoring the weather and doing our best to get you where you need to be, safely and smoothly."

The airline advised passengers travelling on Monday to check their flight status online or through its app and allow additional travel time, warning that road conditions could be slower than usual.
Air India also issued an advisory, saying, "Adverse weather conditions may impact flight operations to and from Delhi today."

Akasa Air said, "Due to severe weather conditions in Delhi certain flights across our network have been impacted. We realize that this may inconvenience your travel plans and seek your patience and understanding."

The airline added, "While this situation is completely beyond our control, please rest assured that our teams are always ready to assist you."
SpiceJet similarly warned, "Due to bad weather in Delhi (DEL), all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights might be affected. Passengers are requested to check their flight status."

The rain also caused waterlogging and traffic congestion in several parts of Delhi-NCR, adding to the difficulties faced by commuters heading to offices, railway stations and the airport.
Visuals from Barakhamba Road, Khan market and several other places showed rain-lashed roads and water accumulation, while traffic moved slowly in affected stretches.
With more adverse weather possible through the day, passengers have been advised to leave early for the airport and monitor their airline for updates on delays or schedule changes.
