CNG prices in Mumbai have been increased by Rs 2 per kg to Rs 84 per kg, with the revised rates coming into effect from May 26, further raising fuel costs for households across the city.
Prices have also been hiked in Chennai, with CNG costing Rs 95 per kg from today onwards.
In the last two weeks, fuel and CNG prices have been hiked in tandem by India's oil marketing companies and city gas distributors.
The CNG rate revision comes a day after petrol and diesel prices were increased again on Monday, May 25 by Rs 2.61 per litre and Rs 2.71 per litre on average, respectively, marking the fourth hike in fuel prices across the country.

Since the last 11 days, the fuel prices have been increased by Rs 7.5 per litre.
Fuel prices were first raised by Rs 3 per litre on May 15, followed by two hikes of 90 paise per litre each on May 19 and May 23, with the most recent hike of Rs 2.71 per litre on Monday. The fuel price hike comes as Indian OMCs who have been bearing the brunt of elevated crude prices that have destabilised global energy markets, leading to widespread losses for companies such as Hindustan Petroleum (HPCL), Bharat Petroleum (BPCL) and Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL).
