The World Bank on Tuesday raised India's economic growth forecast for the current financial year by half a percentage point, citing resilient domestic demand.
The institution expects India's FY27 GDP growth at 7.1% from 6.6% earlier.
World Bank said India's consumption, investment and exports point to strong momentum. While India's investment and exports grew around 12% in Q1 FY27, services remain the largest driver of domestic growth.

However, higher energy prices and El Niño can pose risk to the FY27 growth estimates.
According to the bank, the South Asia region's GDP in 2026 is likely to expand by 6.9%, up from the previous forecast of 6.3%. Excluding India, regional growth is seen 3.6%, down from 4.1% earlier.
