The Income Tax Department conducted search operations at multiple premises in Mumbai on Wednesday in connection with Prime Focus Limited, the media and visual effects company founded by producer Namit Malhotra.
According to NDTV, the searches covered Prime Focus offices as well as premises associated with the company's financial advisers and Chartered Accountants. The tax authorities are examining alleged foreign remittances, overseas fund transfers and possible tax-related irregularities.
The operation is part of an ongoing tax examination, and no wrongdoing has been established at this stage.

Namit Malhotra's Ramayana In Focus
The searches come ahead of Namit Malhotra's ambitious two-part epic Ramayana, which is among the most anticipated upcoming Indian film projects. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana.
Planned as a two-part production, Ramayana has attracted attention for its scale and star cast. The film has been widely reported to have a budget of around Rs 4,000 crore. If the reported figure is accurate, the project would rank among the most expensive Indian films ever made.
The large-scale production has been closely watched in the Indian film industry, particularly because of its ambitious scope and the names attached to the project.
Prime Focus Shares React
The Income Tax Department's action also had an impact on Prime Focus Limited's stock during trading. The company's shares reportedly fell by around 8 per cent after reports of the searches emerged.
Investigation Still Underway
The tax authorities have not yet reached a final conclusion regarding the matters being examined. The searches are part of the investigation and, by themselves, do not establish that any financial irregularity has taken place.
There has been no official statement from the Income Tax Department or Prime Focus Limited regarding the searches or their outcome so far.
The allegations under examination therefore remain unproven until the authorities complete their proceedings and issue any formal findings. Further developments will depend on the outcome of the ongoing examination.
