US President Donald Trump claimed that the US military sank 46 "top-of-the-line" Iranian naval ships over three-and-a-half-days during the Republican Members Issues Conference in Florida on Monday.

He also revealed the reason why the US forces destroyed and sank the Iranian vessels rather than capturing them.

“In fact, I get a little upset with our people. I asked, what quality of ship?

They said, ‘Excellent, sir. Top of the line'.

The US President further stated that he also asked the forces 'why didn't they just capture the ships instead of sinking them.

To which, Trump stated that he got the response that it's more fun to sink. "They like sinking him better. They say it's safer to sink. I guess it's probably true."

The ongoing operations blew up Tehran's military infrastructure, with Trump claiming that the US hit 5,000 targets in Iran since the war began last month and that the country's missile capability was down to 10%.

“Now everybody understands it. Together with our Israeli partners, we're crushing the enemy in an overwhelming display of technical skill and military force," he said, while adding, “Iran's drone and missile capability is being utterly demolished."

“The Navy is gone. It's all lying at the bottom of the ocean. Forty-six ships. Can you believe it?" Trump said.

On the attack by the US on the warship IRIS Dena, Iran asserted that the vessel was unarmed as the Navy was on a friendly visit to India when it was hit. It sank off the coast of Sri Lanka, 81 km from the Indian coast, killing about 80 people on March 4.

The Middle Eastern conflict broke out after the American and Israeli joint strikes on Iran on February 28, in which Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed.

Trump Warns Iran

Donald Trump also warned Iran over the Strait of Hormuz intrusion and the blocking of commercial oil shipments from the Middle East.

"If Iran does anything that stops the flow of oil within the Strait of Hormuz, they will be hit by the United States of America TWENTY TIMES HARDER than they have been hit thus far," he posted on Truth Social.

He further added, "Additionally, we will take out easily destroyable targets that will make it virtually impossible for Iran to ever be built back, as a nation, again - Death, Fire, and Fury will reign upon them. But I hope, and pray, that it does not happen! This is a gift from the United States of America to China, and all of those nations that heavily use the Hormuz Strait. Hopefully, it is a gesture that will be greatly appreciated."

Iran retaliated, saying they would not allow "one liter of oil" to leave the region if attacks from the United States and Israel continue.
