Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday declared that he underwent treatment for prostate-cancer. The treatment, he said, was not disclosed earlier due to the ongoing war against Iran.
Netanyahu noted that he has been issued a clean bill of health following the successful treatment for early-stage prostate cancer.
"Today, my annual medical report was published. I requested to delay its publication by two months so that it would not be released at the height of the war, in order not to allow the Iranian terror regime to spread even more false propaganda against Israel," Netanyahu said on X.
"A year and a half ago, I underwent successful surgery for an enlarged benign prostate, and since then I have been under routine medical monitoring. In the last monitoring, a tiny spot of less than a centimeter was discovered in the prostate. Upon examination, it turned out to be a very early stage of a malignant tumor, with no spread or metastases whatsoever," he added.

Netanyahu's disclosure comes at a time when uncertainty looms over the fragile truce between the US-Israel and Iran. The ceasefire, which was due to expire on April 22, was extended by a few days by President Donald Trump as he offered "three to five days" to the Iranian leadership to respond to his peace deal proposal.
The truce talks appeared on track on Friday, as news agency Reuters reported that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi would be travelling to Islamabad this evening for the second round of talks with the US delegation.
