Flight services in New York City were badly disrupted on Tuesday, February 24, as a major winter storm affected large parts of the north-east coast of the United States.
More than 1,300 flights scheduled to arrive at or depart from New York's three major airports were cancelled during the day due to heavy snowfall, strong winds and poor visibility.
Among the worst affected was John F. Kennedy International Airport, where over 400 flights were cancelled. Flight operations were hit as the city received heavy snow, following what weather officials described as a “historic” blizzard that began impacting the region from Sunday.

Along with snow, the storm also brought fierce winds and coastal flooding to parts of the US north-east.
Despite the cancellations, the airport remained operational, though flight schedules were significantly reduced.
According to reports cited by The Economic Times, passengers faced long delays and repeated cancellations as airlines struggled to manage operations under severe winter conditions.
Will disruption continue today ?
Disruptions are expected to continue into Wednesday. Quoting Fox Weather ET reported that cancellations and delays could stretch through the day as airlines implement winter travel waivers for airports affected by the storm.
These waivers allow passengers to reschedule flights without additional charges.
