The alleged theft only came to light later that evening when staff members, while attending to customers, noticed a gold bracelet missing from a display tray, sparking immediate suspicion that ultimately led to the discovery of the broader inventory breach.
Upon reviewing the internal CCTV footage, showroom owner Darshanbhai reportedly discovered the employee systematically removing jewellery items from the shelves located behind her counter and hiding them inside her pockets.
The surveillance video further revealed that she later retrieved her personal bag from the store's storeroom before officially leaving the premises.
A subsequent, detailed stock verification at the showroom reportedly confirmed that several high-value inventory items were missing, including gold chains, rings, mangalsutras, pendants, earrings, watches, and various other ornaments collectively valued at approximately Rs 1.66 crore.
Police officials stated that the accused woman's mobile phone has remained switched off since the incident occurred, prompting authorities to register a formal criminal case and launch targeted search operations to trace her whereabouts, reported Latestly.
