Banks will remain closed for up to four days in the week of Aug. 24–30, with closures varying by state due to regional festivals and the weekly Sunday holiday.

On Aug. 25, banks will remain shut in certain states for Milad-Un-Nabi or Milad-i-Sherif and the first Onam celebration. Aug. 26 will see a closure of most banks for Id-E-Milad, Baravafat, Milad-un-Nabi, and Thiruvonam. 

Banks in most states will remain closed on Aug. 28 due to Raksha Bandhan, Pang-Lhabsol, and Sree Narayana Guru Jayanthi.

State-Wise Bank Holiday Schedule (Aug. 24 – Aug. 30) 

Aug. 25 (Tuesday): Banks in Kerala and Andhra Pradesh will remain closed on account of Milad-Un-Nabi or Milad-i-Sherif and the first Onam celebration.

Aug. 26 (Wednesday): Most private and public banks in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Telangana, Manipur, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Delhi, Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand will remain shut. The closures are due to Id-E-Milad, Baravafat, Milad-un-Nabi and Thiruvonam.

Aug. 28 (Friday): On this day, bank branches in several states, including Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand will remain closed for Raksha Bandhan, Pang-Lhabsol, and Sree Narayana Guru Jayanthi celebration. 

Aug. 30 (Sunday): Banks across India will remain closed for the weekly Sunday holiday. 

The public and private sector banks are expected to remain open and operate normally on Aug. 24 (Monday), Aug. 27 (Thursday) and Aug. 29 (Saturday). Aug. 29 is the fifth Saturday of the month, when banks generally remain open. Bank customers are advised to check with their respective branch and complete any branch-related work in advance if their banks are located in states observing regional holidays in the upcoming week.

Will online banking services remain accessible?

While customers will not be able to access in-branch services on bank holidays, online facilities remain operational throughout the day. Digital banking channels, such as NEFT, RTGS, internet banking, mobile banking, UPI services and ATMs generally remain available even on bank holidays, so that customers can carry out essential online banking transactions without disruption.
