Microsoft Rebrands '365 Office' To '365 Copilot'
Microsoft has updated Office branding to Microsoft 365 Copilot, aligning with its AI-driven features and integrating Copilot Chat for document creation and task management.

Microsoft renamed its 'Microsoft 365 (Office)' application to 'Microsoft 365 Copilot' on Sunday to reflect the integration of 'Copilot,' its AI-powered chatbot, within the Microsoft application, according to a press release from the software company.
This change was implemented across web, mobile (Android and iOS), and Windows systems.
"This branding change represents the additional ways you can collaborate with Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat for tasks such as asking questions, creating content, draughting documents, and building agents with a work account," the press release said.
The application is meant to help users find and edit files, scan documents, and create content with access to Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDFs in one application.
The Microsoft 365 Copilot app is available to users with Entra accounts (work or school) and personal Microsoft accounts.
The app icon and name, Microsoft 365 Copilot,' were rolled out on January 15th, 2025.
The web URL will also be updated to m365.cloud.microsoft to align with Microsoft’s broader unified cloud.microsoft domain for all Microsoft 365 apps. Both office.com and microsoft365.com URLs will automatically redirect to the new URL.
The Copilot Chat feature is accessible without any extra cost for users with a Microsoft 365 license or a Microsoft 365 Copilot license. And the AI feature in the Microsoft 365 Copilot app will soon be available for Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscribers (limited to primary account holders).
"Copilot Chat will not be available for users without a Microsoft 365 Personal or Family subscription," the press release said.
In regions where Copilot is not available, the Microsoft 365 Copilot app will remove the Copilot tab from the Home screen across web, desktop, and mobile platforms. However, the app's name and icon will remain as Microsoft 365 Copilot to maintain branding consistency.
