The curtain will rise on the 19th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as reigning champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) welcome Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for the tournament opener at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on March 28. In the first phase, the tournament will feature 20 matches staged across 10 host cities: Bengaluru, Mumbai, Guwahati, New Chandigarh, Lucknow, Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad.

The 2026 IPL is scheduled to be played from March 28 to April 12. The schedule for the first phase of the tournament has been announced. "As three states are scheduled to undergo State Assembly elections during this period, the full schedule of the tournament will be announced once the poll dates are announced,” the BCCI said.
The first phase schedule also includes four double-headers across the tournament window. Afternoon fixtures will get underway at 3:30 p.m. IST, while the evening contests are slated to start at 7:30 p.m. IST. Fans can book tickets on platforms such as BookMyShow, the District app and official team websites.
