Blessing Muzarabani opened his account for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) with a four-wicket haul against Sunrisers Hyderbad (SRH) at the Eden Gardens in Match 6 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season. The Zimbabwe pacer recorded figures of 4/41, helping reign in a rampaging SRH batting line-up and walking off the field with the 'Purple Cap.'
Returning to the attack in the ninth over after SRH raced to 110/1 in the first eight, Muzarabani landed a decisive double-blow. The tall pacer first got rid of Ishan Kishan (14 off 9) off his second ball, as the SRH captain slashed at a short delivery only to find Rinku Singh at the deep cover-point boundary.
Two deliveries later, he removed Abhishek Sharma (48 off 21), ending a blistering innings that had set the tone for SRH. The dismissal, however, drew attention for a contentious low catch by Varun Chakravarthy, which was upheld after review and proved to be a key moment in the innings.
Muzarabani returned at the death to strike twice more in the final over of the innings and preventing SRH from fully capitalising on their explosive start. He got rid of half-centruion Heinrich Klaasen (52 off 35 balls) with a pace-off delivery that the South African power-hitter dragged straght to long-on.
He then dismissed Shivang Kumar off the final delivery of the innings to complete his four-wicket haul and take temporary sole ownership of the IPL 2026 Purple Cap.
Muzarabani's spell played a key role in restricting SRH to 226/8, despite the visitors looking set to post a total in excess of 240 after an explosive start.
