Varun Chakravarthy's low, diving catch to dismiss Abhishek Sharma became a major talking point during Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in match 6 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season at the Eden Gardens.
The SRH opener was at his rampaging best, scoring at a blistering strike-rate of 228.57 when he was dismissed in the 9th over. Sharma pulled a short ball flat towards deep square leg where Chakravarthy was stationed.
Here's a look at the controversial moment at the Eden Gardens.

The KKR spinner came running in from the ropes and put in a low dive, appearing to grab the ball just before it could make contact with the surface. Sharma wasn't convinced though and waited for the third umpire to confirm the decision.
However, replays offered no definitive clarity on whether the ball had cleanly carried with the third umpire checking multiple angles before finally deciding that Chakravarthy had his fingers under the ball.
Sharma walked back looking visibly unconvinced having scored 48 off just 21 balls.
