When the Canadian Soccer Association, the Mexican Football Association and the United States Soccer Federation, submitted their joint bid book to secure hosting rights for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, they said tickets to the final would cost a maximum of $1,550 (£1,174).
According to a BBC report on April 2, the first open sale of tickets for the 2026 World Cup Final has now revealed that the most expensive ticket for the showpiece event now stands at $10,990 (£8,333).
In comparison, the most expensive ticket for the Qatar 2022 final was priced at $1,607. That makes it an increase of $9,383, translating to a 584% jump or a near sevenfold rise in the price of the most premium seat at football's biggest match.

What's Behind The Spike?
The sharp increase is largely driven by structural changes in FIFA's ticketing strategy for 2026.
Unlike previous editions, the 2026 World Cup has adopted a dynamic pricing model along with a stronger emphasis on premium hospitality packages. This allows ticket prices to fluctuate based on demand, significantly pushing up top-tier costs.
Not A Like-For-Like Comparison
It is important to note that the comparison is not strictly like-for-like.
The 2026 pricing structure blends traditional ticket categories with hospitality-driven offerings, whereas Qatar 2022 followed a more conventional fixed pricing model. As a result, the surge in prices also reflects a change in how tickets are sold and not just inflation.
How Fans In India Can Buy Tickets
Fans in India looking to attend the 2026 World Cup final will need to go through FIFA's official ticketing channels:
- FIFA Official Website: Tickets are sold via FIFA's dedicated ticketing portal (fifa.com/tickets)
- FIFA Ticketing Account: Users must create an account and apply during open windows
- Payment Methods: International debit/credit cards are generally accepted
- Hospitality Packages: Premium tickets (including the $10,990 tier) are often sold via FIFA's official hospitality partners
