Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's thunderous 175 off 80 balls and RS Ambrish's three-wicket spell helped India crush England by 100 runs in the men's ICC Under 19 World Cup 2026 final played at Harare Sports Club on Friday. The victory helped India lift an unprecedented sixth men's Under 19 World Cup title.
Riding high on Sooryavanshi's blistering knock, India posted a tournament-high of 411/9 before disciplined bowling from Ambrish and co. cleaned up England for 311 in 40.2 overs. India, thus, won the World Cup winning all their matches.
The 'Boys In Blue' have previously won the Under 19 World Cup in 2000, 2008, 2012, 2018, 2022. Ayush Mahatre has thus joined the ranks of Mohammed Kaif, Virat Kohli, Unmukt Chand, Prithvi Shaw and Yash Dhull as an Under 19 World Cup-winning skipper.
For his breathtaking knock, Sooryavanshi won the Player of the Match award. The 14-year-old also was adjudged the Player of the Series for amassing 439 runs in seven innings with an incredible average of 62.71 and a barely-believable strike rate of 169.49.
The historic victory sent social media into frenzy with #VaibhavSooryavanshi #AyushMahatre #WorldChampions #IndianCricketTeams and #WorldChampions becoming instant trends on X.
Current and former cricketers from India and across the world, prominent names from all spectrums reacted to the sensational win and innings from Sooryavanshi.

India's U19 team didn't just turn up with a galaxy of stars to rest in their laurels. They turned up and turned on the power and flex. They worked hard and played smart and deserve this win. ???? ???? ???? congratulations.#ICCMensU19WC

Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman. Legends of the game but their hallmark was humility and a great work ethic. To have U19 players spending time and learning from them is a phenomenal opportunity for these young players

175 off 80 balls
15 fours + 15 sixes-equal fours , equal sixes, equal destruction.
Suryavanshi = Born from the Sun dynasty
Today he batted like one!
Blazing. Blinding. Unstoppable.
England bowlers tried everything.
But you can't stop the SUN.

Sooryavanshi Vaibhav 175 in 80 balls with 15 sixes. Have we seen the future of cricket? If he had stuck around even a 300 seemed possible. India is blessed, they keep getting world class batters.
