A friend can make breakup nights better by showing up with a tub of ice-cream. Them tagging along can make even a dreaded dentist appointment less stressful.

Tough days become easier with besties by our side and now, so will navigating first-date jitters. Tinder has launched 'Double Date', which is the ultimate wing-person feature that lets one find connections with their friend right beside them.

Scrolling through profiles need not be a solo activity anymore as one can now swipe with a friend, laughing, planning and experiencing the excitement together. The feature is designed to strip the pressure and bring a healthy dose of shared amusement into meeting new people, according to Tinder.

Not Just A Hunch, It's A Trend

Tinder's testing revealed that nearly 90% of Double Date profiles came from users under 29, a clear indicator that Gen Z and younger millennials, who make up over half of Tinder's global user base, are all about this "team sport" approach to dating.

Women using Double Date were three times more likely to Like a pair, and match rates soared. Further, individual users sent a whopping 35% more messages in Double Date chats compared to one-on-one conversations.

Swipe With The Squad

To Activate, users can tap the icon, invite up to three friends to create a pair, and start swiping with friends. Only one Like per pair is needed to spark a connection, and if there's a match, a group chat is instantly created. This low-pressure environment sets users up for less small-talk stress and more authentic interactions.

Tinder's 'Double Date' aims to make the dating landscape more social, fun, and more real. Building on the success of features like Tinder Matchmaker and Share My Date, Double Date takes the swipe experience and turns the dating adventure into double the fun.
