The market capitalisation of the top 10 most-valued firms lost a cumulative Rs 19,978.3 crore on Monday, led by Reliance Industries Ltd., Hindustan Unilever Ltd., ITC Ltd. and HDFC Bank Ltd.
State Bank of India, ICICI Bank Ltd. and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. were among the other losers. Infosys Ltd., Bharti Airtel Ltd. and Bajaj Finance Ltd. were the stocks that gained.
RIL's market capitalisation declined Rs 25,305.5 crore to Rs 16.85 lakh crore. Despite the setback, RIL remained one of the top players in the market. It was followed by Hindustan Unilever Ltd. that saw a decline of Rs 14,273.8 crore, settling at Rs 5.74 lakh crore.
ITC Ltd. faced a sharp decline in its market cap, losing Rs 10,259.6 crore, which brought its value down to Rs 5.68 lakh crore. HDFC Bank Ltd. experienced a dip of Rs 8,680.2 crore, settling at Rs 12.84 lakh crore.
ICICI Bank Ltd. saw a slight dip in its market cap, losing Rs 1,835.1 crore, bringing its total value to Rs 8.84 lakh crore. While TCS saw a decline of Rs 1,628 crore in its market cap, bringing the total value to Rs 14.72 lakh crore.
Bajaj Finance Ltd. surged the most as it gained Rs 26,359.7 crore to take its market cap to Rs 5.21 lakh crore.
Bharti Airtel Ltd. also posted positive growth, with its market cap increasing by Rs 14,866.1 crore to Rs 9.4 lakh crore. The telecom giant continued to see investor confidence and market momentum.
Infosys Ltd. gained Rs 5,294.1 crore, pushing its market cap to Rs 7.74 lakh crore.
The NSE Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex settled in losses on Monday as risk-off sentiment drove money out of the domestic markets on fears of potential trade wars in the wake of tariff impositions by the US. The Nifty 50 ended 121.10 points or 0.52%, down at 23,361.05, and the Sensex ended 319.22 points or 0.41%, down at 77,186.74.
