Stock Market Today: All You Need To Know Going Into Trade On Jan. 22

The GIFT Nifty is trading marginally lower near 25,364, indicating a flat open for the benchmark Nifty 50. US and European index futures are trading lower during Asian trading hours.

  • S&P 500 futures trade 1.16% higher

  • Euro Stoxx 50 futures trade 0.36% lower

Market Outlook

Indian equities end volatile session in red, extending the fall for the third day. Nifty had fallen below the 25,000 levels but closed above 25,100. Intraday, both Nifty and Sensex fell nearly 1.50%. The Nifty ended 75 points or 0.3% lower at 25,157.5. The BSE Sensex closed 261.41 points or 0.32% down at 81,919.06.

  • Apollo Hospitals: The company receives CCI approval to acquire a 30.58% stake in its arm, Apollo Health, for Rs. 1,254 crore.

  • Chalet Hotels: HDFC Mutual Fund acquires a 2.06% stake in the company, taking its total shareholding to 7.05%.

  • Gujarat Natural Resources: NCLT approves the merger scheme of the company's arms, GNRL Oil & Gas (India), with GNRL Oil & Gas.

  • Corona Remedies: The company receives the Eurasian Economic Union Good Manufacturing Practices (EAEU‑GMP) certificate for its finished dosage manufacturing unit in Gujarat. Unlocks access to a pharmaceutical market estimated at $25 billion

  • JSW Energy: The company approves the allotment of 95 lakh preference shares to JTPM Metal Traders at a price of Rs. 525 per share.

  • CESC: The company's arm signs a Memorandum of Understanding with the Uttar Pradesh government for setting up solar cell and solar power plants, with a proposed investment of nearly Rs. 3,800 crore.
