Softer US jobs data eased concerns over the US Federal Reserve raising interest rates.

Commodity Check

Crude oil prices rose on Monday after Yemen's Iran-backed Houthis said they launched ballistic missiles and drones at Saudi Aramco sites in Riyadh and the Khurais area, raising concerns about production at the top exporter in the region. Brent crude futures climbed 81 cents, or 0.79%, to $103.06 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate crude was at $91.57 a barrel, up 46 cents, or 0.50

US Market Recap

Major US stocks soared after the opening bell on Friday, October 2 as benchmark yield retreated following a weak jobs data. Nasdaq Composite advanced 1.24% to 27,205, S&P 500 surged 0.82% to 7,729, while Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.61% to 51,236 by 10:25 am ET or 7:05 pm IST.

The indices ended on a higher note, with S&P 500 up 0.73%, Dow Jones Industrial Average up 0.49%, and Nasdaq up 1.19%. 

Stock Market Recap 

The NSE market capitalisation eroded by around Rs 5 lakh crore in the previous session, as the Nifty ended in the red for the eighth straight week, declining 3%. Bajaj Auto and Apollo Hospitals were the worst weekly performers, with both stocks falling more than 9%. The broader market also tracked the benchmark indices, with the Nifty Midcap 150 closing in the red for the second consecutive week, down 3.5%. PB Fintech and Patanjali Foods were the top weekly losers, declining 15% and 12%, respectively.

Sectorally, Nifty Bank dropped for the sixth consecutive week, while Nifty Financial Services extended its losses for the fifth straight week. Nifty Pharma snapped its three-week gaining streak, while Nifty Energy ended lower for the fourth consecutive week. Nifty PSU Bank and Nifty Auto declined for the eighth straight week. Nifty Metal and Nifty FMCG snapped their two-week losing streaks.
