US Market Wrap
Wall Street stocks erased earlier gains in a volatile final hour of trading, despite slower-than-expected inflation data. The S&P 500 recorded its worst month since June. Short-dated Treasury yields were little changed, while 30-year yields remained at their highest since 2002. Money markets priced in less than a 40% chance of a Federal Reserve rate hike in October. The dollar fluctuated. At 4 p.m. in New York, the S&P 500 was down 0.25%, the Nasdaq 100 was up 0.2% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.9%.

Asian Market Wrap
Asian bonds fell and Treasuries held losses as elevated oil prices sustained inflation concerns. Most regional stocks declined. Government bonds in Japan, Australia and New Zealand slipped in early trading, while the 10-year Treasury yield rose one basis point to 5.30%, close to the highest level since 2007 reached on Wednesday. MSCI's Asia Pacific equity gauge fell 0.5%. Hang Seng futures dropped 0.7%, Nikkei 225 futures on the Osaka Exchange rose 1.3% and Japan's Topix declined 0.6%.
Commodity Check
Gold began the month little changed as softer inflation data reduced expectations of a Federal Reserve rate hike at its next meeting, though high bond yields left bullion vulnerable to further selling. Gold traded around $4,155 an ounce after falling 0.6% in the previous session. Spot gold was down 0.1% at $4,151.12 an ounce at 8:05 a.m. in Singapore. Silver fell 0.3% to $60.24 an ounce, following a 1.7% decline to an eight-week low in the previous session. Platinum and palladium edged lower.
Oil steadied after rising in the previous session amid uncertainty over whether the recovery in Middle East flows could be sustained. Brent for December delivery traded near $98 a barrel after gaining 1.9% on Wednesday, while West Texas Intermediate was around $90. Wall Street analysts and traders said crude flows from the Middle East were approaching pre-war levels, although fuel supplies had yet to recover to the same extent.
Stock Market Recap
Nifty 50 extended its losing streak to three sessions, falling 95 points to close at 22,620 on Sept. 30. The index ended near the day's low and slipped to its lowest level since March 30, 2026. The latest decline has also taken the Nifty more than 8.5% below its recent peak of 24,774, highlighting the intensity of the ongoing correction.
