Indian equity benchmarks extended gains for the third consecutive trading session, led by the gains in Reliance Industries Ltd. and ITC Ltd. The BSE Sensex rose nearly 300 points to end at 83,734.25, while the NSE Nifty 50 rose 0.4% to end above 25,800. The broader markets — represented by the NSE Nifty 500 Index — outperformed benchmark indices, led by the rally in Godfrey Phillips' 20% rally.
Ten out of 11 sectoral gauges compiled by the NSE ended higher, led by the NSE Nifty Metal Index's 1.3% rally. On the flipside, the NSE Nifty IT Index was the only sectoral loser, down 1.4%. The market breadth was tilted in favour of buyers. About 2,246 stocks advanced and 1,953 shares declined on the NSE.
Elsewhere in around the world, The STOXX 600 index rose 0.4% on Wednesday, with defence stocks leading gains.
The FTSE 100 index was up 0.53% at 10,611.93, the DAX index rose 0.52% to 25,127.89, and the CAC 40 index gained 0.33% to 8,389.04. In Asia, Japan's Topix index rose more than 1%, ending a three-day losing run. The Nikkei 225 added 0.8%, extending gains from Tuesday. Markets in China and Hong Kong, along with several regional exchanges, stayed shut for the Lunar New Year holiday.

Larsen & Toubro said it has proposed a venture with Nvidia to build gigawatt-scale AI factory.
L&T said the setup will use Nvidia AI infrastructure, including GPUs, CPUs, networking and AI software

Eight out of 15 sectoral gauges traded lower, led by the NSE Nifty IT Index's 1.9% fall. On the flipside, the NSE Nifty Metal Index was the top sectoral gainer, up 1.3%.

Netweb Technologies India Ltd. shares jumped over 4% after market open after it launched a made-in-India artificial intelligence supercomputer system using Nvidia Corp. hardware and software stack. The Tyrone Camarero Spark is one of the world's smallest AI supercomputers delivering Nvidia's AI stack in a compact desktop form factor, according to a statement.
Deven Choksey told NDTV Profit that the pace of AI adoption is set to accelerate significantly in the coming years. He noted that companies using AI in their core operations are moving much faster than those merely enabling AI for others. According to him, Indian IT companies are now shifting towards a delivery‑only model as the industry undergoes a major structural transition.
Choksey also said that current market valuations appear reasonable, reflecting improving fundamentals. He added that the fourth quarter is shaping up to be stronger than the third, indicating a healthier outlook for earnings momentum.
A nearly 20% decline in ITC Ltd. share price so far this year has made entry "appealing", according to multinational brokerage UBS, which expects better operational performance in the next fiscal after rolling out cigarette price hikes.
The firm maintained a 'buy' rating on ITC and cut target price to Rs 395 from Rs 420 earlier. The new price indicates a 22% potential upside to the previous close.

Shares of Ola Electric snapped their four-day losing streak. The stock rose as much as 4.9% to Rs 29.35.

The Nifty 500 outperformed the benchmarks, led by Godfrey Philips, CE Infotech and Transformers & Rectifiers.

Benchmarks traded little changed at the open as losses in Infosys and ONGC offset gains in ICICI Bank and Bajaj Finance. The Sensex was at 83,448 and the Nifty 50 at 25,730.
