Day 12 of the T20 World Cup began with an inconsequential tie between the UAE and South Africa in New Delhi. Corbin Bosh's brilliant spell of 3/12 ensured that South Africa restricted UAE on a small score of 122/6. For UAE, Alishan Sharafu played a fighting knock of 45 in 38 balls. South Africa lost four wickets in the chase but were never in any sort of trouble to chase down the target. The Proteas reached the target in 13.2 overs as the 2024 finalists ended their group-stage campaign with a perfect record.
The most important game of the day was played in Colombo between Pakistan and Namibia. Pakistan had to beat Namibia to ensure qualification for the Super Eight stage. Pakistan batted first and were propelled to a huge total of 199/3 thanks to a brilliant hundred by opener Sahibzada Farhan.
Sahibzada scored an unbeaten 100 in 58 balls. Namibia hardly troubled Pakistan in the run-chase as they got bowled out on just 97. Pakistan's "mystery" spinner Usman Tariq bowled a super spell of 4/16 and was well supported by fellow spinner Shadab Khan who claimed 3 wickets for 19 runs. With that Pakistan became the eighth and the final team to secure a place in the next round of the World Cup.
Finally, the attention shifted to Ahmedabad where India and Netherlands participated in yet another dead rubber. Shivam Dube's knock of 66 in 31 balls and Hardik Pandya's cameo of 30 in 21 deliveries ensured India got a score of 193/6. Netherlands put up a brave fight in the run-chase but the target of 194 proved too much for their batters. The Dutch scored 176/7 in 20 overs as India remained unbeaten in the tournament.
