Indian equity benchmarks extended gains for the fifth consecutive trading session. The NSE Nifty 50 rose as much as 0.2% to 24,488 and the BSE Sensex rose as much as 0.3% or over 200 points to 78,504.01.
Meanwhile, oil markets remained in focus after a vessel was reportedly struck while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, underlining that security risks persist even as shipping through the strategic waterway gradually recovers.
Brent crude traded above $72 a barrel after a modest decline in the previous session, while West Texas Intermediate hovered near $69. According to UK Maritime Trade Operations, a tanker sailing near Limah, Oman, was hit by a projectile that sparked a fire on board. No injuries were reported.
Elsewhere, Asian markets opened lower on Tuesday as investors assessed renewed risks to oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, while taking cues from another record finish for the Dow Jones Industrial Average overnight. South Korea's Kospi led regional declines, falling 3.23%. Japan's Nikkei 225 slipped 0.07%, while Australia's ASX 200 eased 0.25%.
The cautious start came despite gains in U.S. equities, where the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at another record high and the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite also advanced in the first trading session after the Independence Day holiday. The Dow rose 0.29%, the S&P 500 gained 0.72% and the Nasdaq added 1.12%, supported by continued buying in large-cap stocks.
U.S. equity futures were little changed in early Asian trade. Futures linked to the Dow Jones Industrial Average edged up 34 points, S&P 500 futures were broadly flat and Nasdaq-100 futures traded marginally lower as investors awaited fresh catalysts.

- Brokerages said Titan’s Q1 update was supported by jewellery demand, festive sales and Akshaya Tritiya. They also cited double-digit buyer growth, stable jewellery margins and strong growth across watches and jewellery.

- CLSA’s Laurence Balanco said IndusInd Bank’s breakout above the Rs 957–968 resistance zone confirms fresh momentum and indicates an upside target of Rs 1,250–1,260.
- The brokerage said HDFC AMC’s breakout opens the way for an upside objective of Rs 3,580. It sees Godrej Properties’ break above Rs 1,894–1,951 supporting an upside target of Rs 2,650–2,660.
- CLSA also said Bajaj Holdings’ move back above its 200-day moving average reinforces the late-June breakout, with an upside objective of Rs 13,390–13,400.

- Goldman Sachs maintained its Buy rating on Indian Hotels and raised the target price to Rs 830 from Rs 790.
- The brokerage said domestic demand likely remained resilient, while international air traffic is showing initial signs of improvement. It said Indian Hotels reported high single-digit RevPAR growth despite several disruptions in FY26, with gradual margin expansion expected from FY27 onwards.

- Jefferies said allocation under the electronics component manufacturing scheme rose 75% to Rs 40,000 crore in February 2026, while allocation under mobile PLI was cut 81%.
- The brokerage said disbursement across 14 PLI schemes so far is estimated at 26% of the initial outlay till FY27. It expects ECMS to cover 50% of the mobile bill of materials.
- Jefferies remains bullish on component plays such as Syrma SGS and Kaynes, while it has a Hold rating on Dixon Technologies. It expects EMS companies to deliver an average EPS CAGR of 26% over FY26–29.

- Jubilant FoodWorks reported 14.1% year-on-year growth in Q1FY27 consolidated revenue at Rs 2,569.3 crore.

- The group added 76 net stores during the quarter, taking its total store count to 3,712.
