Jio Financial Services Ltd., Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd., Bajaj Finance Ltd., Trent Ltd. and Axis Bank Ltd. emerged as the top gainers of the NSE Nifty 50 on Monday.
Eternal Ltd., ICICI Bank Ltd., Titan Co, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd. were the biggest laggards among the Nifty stocks.
Jio Financial Services was the biggest winner on Monday, rising as much as 3.49% to Rs 304.25 apiece, Kotak Mahindra Bank was next in line closing 3.13% higher at Rs 2,138.20 apiece, followed by Bajaj Finance closing 2.52% higher at Rs 9,607.50 apiece. Trent and Axis Bank were also among the winners.
Eternal Ltd. slumped 1.92% at Rs 256.84 apiece to emerge as the biggest loser, followed by ICICI Bank closing 1.71% lower at Rs 1,434.80 apiece. Then came Titan, which closed 0.73% lower at Rs 3,533.90 apiece. Mahindra & Mahindra and Adani Ports were also among the losers.
The benchmark equity indices closed higher for the fourth straight session on Monday on heels of positive global cues, including robust US jobs data, Banking stock also continued to rally on Monday as they rose on Friday following Reserve Bank of India Monetary Policy Committee slashing the key lending rate by 50 basis point to bring it to 5.5%.
The NSE Nifty 50 ended 100.15 points or 0.4% higher at 25,103.20, while the BSE Sensex closed 256.22 points or 0.31% up at 82,445.21. During the day, the Nifty rose 0.63% to trade at 25,160.10 and the Sensex advanced 0.58% to 82,669
