“At the initiative of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the United Nations General Assembly in 2014 took a historic decision to declare June 21 as the International Day of Yoga. The global acceptance of Yoga is a matter of pride for our country as Yoga forms an integral part of our cultural and spiritual heritage,” Jadhav was quoted as saying by PIB.
He added, “The Ministry of Ayush is the nodal Ministry for the observation of the International Day of Yoga. Every year the main event of IDY is a mass yoga demonstration which is led by the Hon'ble Prime Minister himself, and preparations for IDY-2026 are already underway.”
