Tata Consultancy Services' Nashik unit has come under fresh scrutiny in the alleged sexual harassment and religious ‘conversion' case, with a complainant alleging that internal passwords were maintained in “obscene language”, reported NDTV.
According to statements recorded before the Women's Commission, a victim accused one of the arrested employees, Raza Rafiq Memon, of subjecting her to repeated mental harassment and inappropriate conduct since her training period.
She alleged that he would frequently call her into his cabin and engage in obscene conversations, while also making remarks that hurt her religious sentiments.
She claimed that her concerns were ignored when she raised them with the unit's manager.
She also alleged that two other accused — Danish Sheikh and Tausif Akhtar — later digitally stalked her and spread rumours about her.
The case first came to light after a woman accused the Danish Sheikh of entering into a physical relationship with her in 2022 on the false promise of marriage, despite already being married.
A police report also names Nida Khan — Sheikh's sister, currently absconding — for allegedly making derogatory remarks about the complainant's faith and pressuring her to convert.
Investigators say Khan, along with Tausif Akhtar, also concealed Sheikh's marital status from the complainant.
As the probe progressed, seven more women came forward with similar allegations, claiming they were subjected to mental and sexual harassment by senior colleagues, while the human resources department failed to act on their complaints.
These incidents span from February 2022 to March 2026.
In addition, a male employee has also filed a complaint alleging an attempt at religious conversion within the workplace.
So far, police have arrested seven TCS employees — six men and one woman, the HR head — who have since been suspended.
The accused have been identified as Danish Sheikh, Tausif Attar, Raza Rafiq Memon, Shahrukh Qureshi, Shafi Sheikh, Asif Aftab Ansari, and HR head Ashwini Chainani.
Chainani has been accused of discouraging a victim from lodging a formal complaint, while Nida Khan has been named in a separate case related to religious harassment.
