The Karnataka state road transport corporation has announced revision in luggage rates for passengers and for luggage carried without passengers. The revised luggage tariff will come into effect from today (Feb.16).
In January 2025, the state-run corporation had announced a revision in bus fares attributing it to rising diesel prices, staff costs, and other operational expenses. However, there was no hike in luggage fares, which were previously increased in December 2021.
According to the corporation, buses are permitted to carry luggage along with passengers and also as separate consignments, apart from regular passenger services.
Why Were The Fares Increased ?
An official from the corporation stated luggage fares usually follow an increase in bus fares.
Though the bus fare was increased last year, there was no hike in luggage fares. In order to address the gap, the revised luggage fares have now been implemented, the official stated.
