Delhi-NCR woke up to another spell of heavy rain and thunderstorms on Tuesday, after Monday's downpour left parts of the capital waterlogged, disrupted traffic and forced flight diversions. The IMD has issued an orange alert for Delhi, warning of more heavy rain during the morning.

The broader forecast indicates that rain and thunderstorms will remain possible across Delhi-NCR in the coming days, although the intensity can vary by location and time. Rain and thunderstorms are likely to continue across several parts of India through August 30, with Delhi-NCR among the areas expected to see more rainfall in the coming days.

The Gurugram District Administration has issued a work from home advisory for August 25 following the heavy rainfall resulting in the risk of water-logging and traffic congestion.

The advisory asked corporate offices, government and private schools and other institutions to guide their employees and staff to work from home on Tuesday.

Gurugram had received approximately 70mm of rainfall by 1:30 pm on Monday. Several important Gurugram stretches, including Rajiv Chowk, IFFCO Chowk, Railway Road, Sector 5, Old Delhi Road, Mehrauli Road and Basai Road, were among the areas badly affected by water-logging according to the district administration figures.

Additionally, the Gurugram administration also advised schools to shift to online classes on Tuesday, August 25 in a revised advisory posted on their official social media handles.

The Times of India reported that severe water-logging had caused a major traffic jam on Sohna Road, contributing to the decision to issue the WFH advisory.

Given Monday's water-logging, commuters should expect the possibility of slow traffic, flooded stretches and disruptions to road travel if another intense spell arrives.
