Delhi's airspace will face heightened restrictions during the BRICS Summit, with unscheduled take-offs and landings barred at airports within a 300-km radius of the national capital, according to a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) accessed by NDTV Profit.
The restrictions will come into effect from 7 am IST on Sept 11, 2026, and remain in force until 11 pm IST on Sept 13, the NOTAM said.
Under the special security measures, only scheduled airline flights will be permitted to operate within the restricted zone. Special flights carrying BRICS Summit dignitaries, along with associated flights, will also be allowed subject to prior approval.

Flight plans for permitted operations will have to be approved in advance by Air Traffic Control (ATC), according to the NOTAM.
India will host the 18th BRICS Summit on September 12-13 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, bringing together leaders of BRICS member and partner nations alongside outreach invitees.
Flights operated by the Indian Air Force, Border Security Force and Aviation Research Centre will be exempt from the restrictions. State government aircraft and helicopters carrying a Governor or Chief Minister will also be permitted to operate.
Scheduled flights and overflights will continue to be allowed through the 300-km zone, subject to specified operating conditions.
The NOTAM also lays down altitude requirements for aircraft approaching or departing the Delhi area. While climbing, aircraft must reach 2,900 feet when they are 200 km from Delhi. During descent, aircraft can begin descending from FL290 only after reaching a point 200 km from Delhi.
Safdarjung Airport will remain closed to civilian operations during the period, with the facility available only to defence forces, according to the NOTAM accessed by NDTV Profit.

Separately, Chinese government also confirmed that President Xi Jinping will attend the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, from September 12-13, marking his first visit to the country in seven years.
In a post on the social media platform X, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said, "At the invitation of Prime Minister of the Republic of India Narendra Modi, President Xi Jinping will attend the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi from September 12 to 13."
