Chennai: Wheels India, a TVS group company, on Tuesday said its standalone net profit nearly doubled to Rs 14.62 crore in the fiscal first quarter that ended on June 30.
The Chennai-based company's net profit surged 88.1 per cent in the quarter ended June 2016, compared to Rs 7.77 crore in the corresponding period a year ago.
Total income from operations surged to Rs 533.96 crore in the quarter under review, as against Rs 491.58 crore a year ago.
For the financial year ended March 31, the company's net profit stood at Rs 39.99 crore. Total income from operations was at Rs 2,016.27 crore.
Wheels India shares, on Tuesday, ended 8.57 per cent higher at Rs 1,324.55 apiece on the BSE, whose benchmark Sensex index finished down 0.35 per cent.
