Indian-origin entrepreneur Vinay Hiremath is struggling to find purpose in life after selling his video-communication company, Loom in October last year. Australian software company Atlassian acquired it for roughly $975 million. The 32-year-old, in a blog post, revealed why he gave up $60 million in pay as the chief technical officer of Loom.

"Life has been a haze this last year. After selling my company, I find myself in the totally un-relatable position of never having to work again. Everything feels like a side quest, but not in an inspiring way. I don't have the same base desires driving me to make money or gain status," he said in a blog post titled — "I am rich and I have no idea what to do with my life."

Hiremath added that he struggled to find the same level of desire driving him to make money. Despite having the freedom that comes with such a large sum of money, he has been struggling with ways to spend it and does not feel very 'optimistic' about life.

The US-based businessman mulled over building a robotics company and climbed two Himalayan peaks after selling off his company.

Hiremath also opened up about his insecurities in his personal life after breaking up with his girlfriend – with whom he had spent "two years of unconditional love". He described the breakup as "extremely painful" but clarified that it was the right call.

Apologising to his girlfriend without naming her in the post, he wrote, “If my ex is reading this. Thank you for everything. I am sorry I couldn't be what you needed me to be."
