UK-based shirt-maker T.M.Lewin today announced its foray into the Indian market with plans to open 50 outlets over the next five years.
The company has signed an exclusive franchise agreement with Brand Marketing India (BMI) to market and distribute T.M.Lewin branded products across the Indian Subcontinent.
"BMI intends to open over 50 T.M.Lewin locations over the next five years, thereby, positioning the business to capitalise on the significant growth potential of the Indian market," the company said in a statement.
The company, however, did share other details such as any investment plan or sales target in India.
BMI has earlier launched and developed other brands like Calvin Klein Jeans, Calvin Klein Underwear and French Connection in India.
Commenting on the development, T.M.Lewin CEO Geoff Quinn said: "I am thrilled that T.M.Lewin will be entering into the Indian market. This is a fantastic opportunity for us to establish and grow a substantial business in the years ahead."
The company is looking forward to working with BMI to introduce "a new generation of Indian consumers to T.M.Lewin business wear, both in retail stores and online", he added.
Established in 1898 in London, T.M.Lewin designs and manufactures business wear for men and women. It now has just under 100 stores in the UK, with new outlets being opened in countries across the world, including Europe, Singapore and Australia.
