At least six people were killed in Somalia's capital, Mogadishu, after a car bomb exploded at an army checkpoint near the nation's parliament on Wednesday.
A dozen other people were injured in the incident, a police officer Bashir Ise, said by phone. The authorities didn't immediately reveal identities of those killed.
Al-Qaeda-linked al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack, according to an airing on Radio Andalus, which supports the Islamist group.
