India's stock market will be busy sifting through a flurry of events this week, from the Reserve Bank of India's monetary policy decision to the start of the fourth quarter earnings season and continuing developments in the Iran war now in its sixth week.
Here's a brief window to the week ahead:
RBI MPC
The RBI's Monetary Policy Committee will meet between April 6 and 8, when policymakers are expected to assess the economic impact of nearly a month of conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran. The decision will be announced on Wednesday, April 8, at 10:00 a.m.
Volatility in crude oil prices driven by the Gulf conflict is raising inflation risks in India and may push the central bank towards a rate hike, even as growth slows. Crude prices have swung sharply over the past month as tensions disrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a route that carries about 20% of global oil supply.
The oil shock is feeding into inflation through fuel, fertiliser and currency channels, raising the risk that the RBI may need to tighten policy even as demand weakens.

Assam And Kerala Elections
Assembly elections will be held in a single phase in Assam, Kerala and the Union Territory of Puducherry on Thursday, April 9
The Bharatiya Janata Party is widely projected to retain control of Assam under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. A Congress-led alliance is the main opponent. The Assembly has 126 seats.
After breaking Kerala's decades-old pattern by retaining power in 2021, the Left Democratic Front is now seeking a rare third consecutive mandate. The Congress-led United Democratic Front is seen to have the upper hand this time. The southern state has 140 Assembly seats.
The AINRC-BJP government in Puducherry is facing challenge from the Congress-DMK combine. The UT has 30 elected seats in the Assembly.

Iran War
US President Donald Trump's warning that he could unleash "all hell" on Iran as early as Monday drew a defiant response from Tehran. The threat followed the expiration of a five-day deadline ending April 6, set amid tentative discussions around possible peace talks that began in late March, as Washington explored options to contain the widening conflict.
Trump has cautioned that failure by Iran to accept US demands—which Tehran has dismissed—including allowing unrestricted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, could prompt American strikes on Iran's civilian energy infrastructure.
Another signal that the war was no closer to ending in its sixth week is a US decision, reported by Bloomberg News, to pull nearly its entire inventory of stealthy long-range JASSM-ER cruise missiles from the Pacific region and the US to be available to attack Iran, leaving only 425 available for conflicts elsewhere.
TCS Q4 Results
Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.'s board of directors will meet on Thursday, April 9 to consider and approve the audited standalone and consolidated financial results for the March quarter of FY26. The board will also consider the approval of a final dividend, if any.
Subsequently, the company will hold an earnings conference call at 7:00 p.m. to discuss the performance with investors and analysts.
TCS typically kicks off the earnings season in India and sets the stage for other information technology companies.
