November Aviation Data: Domestic Air Passenger Traffic Rises 11.9%

Sequentially, the domestic air traffic increased by 5% as compared to 1.36 crore passengers in October 2024.

The domestic air passenger traffic in November 2024 rose 11.9% year-on-year to 1.43 crore, as compared to 1.28 crore in the same month last year, according to the data released by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation on Monday.

The numbers also mark a sequential jump of 5%, as the total domestic air traffic in October 2024 stood at 1.36 crore.

The dominance of IndiGo remained intact, as the budget carrier increased its market share 63.6% in November from 63.3% last month. In absolute terms, it carried 90.7 lakh passengers.

Air India, post its merger with Vistara, raised its market share to 24.4% from 19.4%. The erstwhile national carrier carried 34.73 lakh passengers during the month

Among other carriers, SpiceJet increased its market share to 3.1% from 2.4%, and Akasa Air raised its share to 4.7% from 4.5%.

The passenger load factor of most major airlines increased during the month, with IndiGo logging a climb from 82.3% in October to 90.3% in November, Air India posting a rise from 80.8% to 87.8%, and SpiceJet reporting an increase from 81% to 87.9%.

In the period stretching from January to November 2024, the cumulative domestic air traffic stood at 14.64 crore passengers, higher as compared to 13.82 crore in the same period last year, the DGCA data showed.

The domestic airlines received around 624 passengers related complaints in November, with Fly Big receiving the maximum complaints followed by SpiceJet and Star Air.

In terms of on-time performance, Vistara surpassed other airlines with 79.3% accuracy, followed by Indigo at 74.5%, Akasa Air at 66.4%, SpiceJet at 62.5%, Alliance Air at 58.9%, and Air India at 58.8%, as per the data.

The cancellation rate of scheduled domestic airlines for the month of November stood at 1.25%. Among major carriers, Alliance Air recorded a cancellation of 4.23%, followed by Vistara at 1.59%.
