(Bloomberg) -- Massachusetts casino regulators began looking into allegations of sexual misconduct by Wynn Resorts Ltd. founder Steve Wynn, with officials saying revocation of the company's license to operate in the state is a possibility.
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission plans to look at the claims against Wynn, as well as the response by the casino company and its board, officials said Wednesday in a public hearing. Catherine Blue, the general counsel, said the panel has the power to limit, remove or suspend Wynn's license.
“We will get this right and we will get it right as quickly as we can,” Commission Chairman Stephen Crosby said.
Wynn Resorts is building a $2.4 billion hotel-casino complex on the Boston Harbor that could be jeopardized by the commission's investigation. Karen Wells, the director of investigations, said that during the licensing process no one disclosed a $7.5 million settlement that Wynn himself paid to an employee.
Wynn's counsel has since confirmed the payment and said Wynn himself was advised he didn't have to make any disclosure and that no court filings were involved, Wells said.
