Sales of Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. rose 5.7% year-on-year to 1,55,857 units in June 2022, according to a statement released on Friday.
Domestic sales increased 1.28% to 1,32,024 units in June versus 1,30,348 units a year ago. The company dispatched 14,442 mini cars--Alto and S-Presso--last month, compared to 17,439 units a year ago.
Sales in the compact segment, which includes models such as the Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno and Dzire increased to 77,746 units against 68,849 units a year ago. Sales of mid-sized sedan Ciaz increased to 1,507 units from 602 units. The company, however, sold fewer utility vehicles (Vitara Brezza, S-Cross and Ertiga) -- 18,860 units compared to 28,172 a year ago.
Exports jumped to 23,833 units versus against 17,020 units a year ago.
On Friday, shares of India's largest carmaker declined 0.87% to Rs 8,396.60 apiece even as the benchmark S&P BSE Sensex ended the day 0.21% lower at 52,907.93 points.
