Astra Rafael Comsys Pvt., a joint venture company of aerospace and defense firm Astra Microwave Products Ltd., on Thursday announced a new order worth Rs 250 crore from Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. The company will supply Software Defined Radio (SDR) for HAL in Bengaluru within 18 months, according to a stock exchange filing.

Astra Rafael Comsys is a JV with Israel's Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd. AMPL holds 50% stake in ARC, while 49% is held by Rafael. In line with the government's Make in India initiative, the JV was set up to manufacture defense products through technology transfer from the JV partner, Rafael. 

ARC is India's first private sector military grade SDR manufacturing facility, spread across 48,000 square feet in Hardware Tech-Park, Hyderabad.

ARC is engaged in India in indigenous development, production and integration of high-end digital communication systems which will include a wide range of technologies and products like SDR, ESM and Cognitive Radio technology.

The company is expected to report about Rs 350 crore of revenue in FY26, according to the management, and Rs 400 crore in FY27.

Astra Microwave Products' standalone order book stood at Rs 2,226 crore as of December 2025, providing strong visibility for the upcoming quarters. This includes orders of Rs 1,477 crore from defence PSUs and DRDO labs, Rs 249 crore from space sector, Rs 370 crore from metrology and hydrology sector and Rs 130 crore from exports and deemed exports.

Shares of Astra Microwave Products gained as much as 3.4% intraday on the NSE, compared to a 2% decline in the benchmark Nifty 50. The stock is up 35% in the last 12 months and down 6% year-to-date.
