The former Foreign Secretary of India, Kanwal Sibal, has said that the “lunacy” has led the United States (US)-Israel military attacks on Iran twice and “assasinating irs top military leaders”.

Sibal was lashing out at statements made by the United States Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, wherein he had called Iranian leaders “religious fanatic lunatics”.

“Let me explain this to you guys in simple English, ok? Iran is run by religious fanatic lunatics,” Rubio said, while talking to media personnel. “They have an ambition to have nuclear weapons. They intend to develop those nuclear weapons behind a program of missiles and drones and terrorism, so that the world will not be able to touch them for the fear of those things.”
Sibal, however, did not take lightly to Rubio's comments and posted his anger on the social media platform X.

He asserted that “these lunatic religious fanatics signed the nuclear deal with the US, accepted very intrusive IAEA inspections, handed over their enriched Uranium to Russia and agreed to limit enrichment to 3.67%.”

Sibal said that it was the US President, Donald Trump, who walked out of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). “These lunatics did not walk out of the NPT, as they could have,” Sibal posted, adding, “They did not develop a secret nuclear capability and test weapons and become a nuclear power like other 'lunatic' dictators of North Korea who now feel protected.”

“What kind of 'lunacy' is this?” he questioned, adding that this led to US-Israel military attacks on Iran twice, “assassinating its top political and military leaders”.

The United States has come under immense criticism for attacking Iran, despite having no “imminent threat” from the nation. Voices are growing in the US terming Trump's decision to attack Iran as taken on the behest of Israel.

Three rounds of talks were held between Tehran and Washington in Geneva before the US declared war on Tehran.
