US President Donald Trump said that he had a very good conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi this week, calling him a friend from India.

"I had a very good talk with him, and he's a friend of mine from India, and he's doing great. We had a very good conversation," President Trump told reporters on Thursday while heading to Las Vegas to address a roundtable on tax cuts.

This week, both the leaders held their first phone call  since the US and Iran agreed to a ceasefire deal to bring peace in West Asia. The call lasted about 40 minutes, reported NDTV. The US envoy to India Sergio Gor said that the war in the Middle East region and trade were discussed during the call.

"People of India love you," PM Modi told Trump during the phone call reportedly. In a post on X, PM Modi mentioned about the exchange with his US counterpart. He said, "Received a call from my friend President Donald Trump. We reviewed the substantial progress achieved in our bilateral cooperation in various sectors."
