Former US President Barack Obama has unveiled his list of favorite movies for 2024, with Indian filmmaker Payal Kapadia's 'All We Imagine As Light' topping the chart. Known for his annual tradition of sharing favorite books, films, and music, Obama's recommendations often spark global discussions and add to the buzz surrounding the featured works.

Kapadia's Malayalam-Hindi debut feature has made history by becoming the first Indian film to top Obama's annual film list. It stands alongside global heavyweights like Ralph Fiennes-starrer Conclave, Malcolm Washington's The Piano Lesson, Mads Mikkelsen's Promised Land, and Mohammad Rasoulof's The Seed of the Sacred Fig.

An India-France co-production, All We Imagine As Light follows the lives of two nurses, Prabha (Kani Kusruti) and Anu (Divya Prabha), navigating love and life in Mumbai, alongside their cook and friend Parvaty (Chhaya Kadam).

The film has gained critical acclaim worldwide, winning the Grand Prix Award at the Cannes Film Festival, and earning honours such as Best International Film at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards and the Gotham Awards.
