Saudi Arabia has introduced mobile passport counters at airports to speed up immigration procedures for Hajj pilgrims, according to a report by Gulf News.

Pilgrims arriving at King Abdulaziz International Airport in the Red Sea city of Jeddah are now being processed through these portable units, which capture biometric data, take facial images, and scan passport details on the spot.

The mobile counters will enable quicker processing for capturing biometric data, allowing pilgrims to save their time. Facial images and passport information would also be recorded on the spot, the report said, adding that the move will result in saving time during peak arrivals.

Officials said the initiative is particularly focused on supporting elderly pilgrims and persons with disabilities, enabling smoother processing without requiring them to stand in long queues at conventional counters.

The move is part of Saudi Arabia's wider preparations for Hajj 2026, as authorities gear up to handle millions of pilgrims. Efforts include scaling up digital infrastructure, improving crowd management systems, and strengthening transport logistics to enhance safety and efficiency.
