Amid escalating tensions in the ongoing US-Iran conflict, Iran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has issued a defiant and emotionally charged warning following US President Donald Trump's latest address, declaring that Iranians are prepared to endure sacrifice and confrontation to defend their homeland.
In a strongly worded statement posted on X, Ghalibaf invoked personal loss and national pride to send a message of resistance. “Back when I was eighteen years old, I grabbed my rifle and ran straight into the fight,” he said, recalling his early days during the Iran-Iraq war. He added, “My own brother, Hassan, he laid it all on the line… He never came home,” highlighting the deep personal cost of conflict.

Framing the current moment as a continuation of that legacy, Ghalibaf said, “That kind of pain never leaves a man,” before broadening the message to the nation. “We give everything — everything we've got — for the land we love. We poured out our youth, our blood, and every tomorrow we had for Iran.”

The statement comes shortly after Trump's speech, which signalled continued military pressure on Iran and ruled out an immediate de-escalation, further inflaming rhetoric on both sides.
Ghalibaf rejected the idea that Iran seeks war, but warned of a unified response if attacked. “We are not warmongers. But when the time comes to defend our homeland, every last one of us becomes a soldier,” he said, emphasising national mobilisation.
He also pointed to growing domestic support, claiming millions are ready to stand behind the country's leadership. “A powerful national campaign sweeping across the country has brought forward around 7 million Iranians who have already stepped up,” he said, suggesting widespread readiness for conflict.
In one of the most striking lines of the statement, Ghalibaf declared, “Iranians don't just talk about defending their country, we bleed for it,” reinforcing a message of sacrifice and resilience.

Ending on a direct challenge, he said, “You come for our home… you're gonna meet the whole family. Locked, loaded, and standing tall. Bring it on.”
Earlier in the day, Trump, in his speech, signaled the US is prepared to intensify its military response and threatened to take Iran “back to the stone ages.”
