Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Iranians will never submit to coercion or threats, while speaking at a BRICS ministerial meeting on New Delhi on Thursday. Araghchi claimed that there is no military answer to Iranian problems and that when the country is under pressure from outside sources, it becomes stronger and more cohesive.
The Iranian people have "firmly and proudly" resisted horrifying brutality, according to Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and they will never submit to the whims and will of the US imperial authority, which is "in decline."
Abbas made these remarks while addressing the meeting of the foreign ministers of the BRICS member states in New Delhi, India, on May 14, 2026.
Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, India's Minister of External Affairs, convened the two-day gathering of the foreign ministers of the BRICS nations in New Delhi on Thursday.
Araghchi, targeting Washington, stated, "A declining imperial power is desperately lashing out in an attempt to turn back the clock."
It should be evident that Iran is indestructible and only becomes stronger and more cohesive under duress. He continued, "We are equally prepared to pursue and defend diplomacy as we are prepared to fight with everything we have in defence of our freedom and our soil."
He pointed out that in less than a year, the United States and Israel committed two heinous, illegal, and unjustified acts of aggression against Iran using fabrications that contradict the well-informed conclusions of the International Atomic Energy Agency and even the United States' own intelligence community.

Middle East instability is a "lose-lose proposition for all sides – including the aggressors," according to Iran's Foreign Minister, who has criticised the US and Israel for "expansionism and warmongering."
“Those who pursue reckless adventures may believe it furthers their geopolitical interests. But as consumers and governments around the world now sense and understand, regional instability is a lose-lose proposition for all sides—including the aggressors,” Araghchi said.
The main objectives of the BRICS Foreign Ministers' Meeting in New Delhi, which India is chairing, from May 14–15, are to address regional security issues, improve collaboration among developing nations, and navigate global economic turmoil.
